What is the difference between Smyth and The Loyalist?
At Smyth, we offer a tasting menu experience that tells the story of John and Karen Shields' time in Smyth County, Virginia. Dining with us is a 2.5-3 hour experience. Smyth is a loft style design, with an entirely open kitchen and vast windows.
The Loyalist is our neighborhood restaurant and bar. We offer a more casual, French Bistro experience with shareable menu choices and a large bar with craft cocktails.
What does an experience to Smyth include?
When you purchase an experience at Smyth, you are Just the deposit. All food & beverage purchases (pairings, wine by the bottle or glass, coffee, tea, etc.) are an additional charge. The deposit is removed at the conclusion of your meal.
Is there a dress code?
We do not have a dress code - rather, we have a "come-as-you-are" policy. That being said, we have a fair amount of guests celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and, as a result, our guest tend to outfit themselves in dresses & dress shirt/sport coat attire. End of the day, we simply want you to be comfortable.
Do you accommodate vegans or vegetarians?
We do our best to accommodate all dietary needs. For vegetarian guests, kindly note whether you or your guest enjoys eggs and dairy as part of their diet. This will assist us in making your menu as perfect as possible.
At this time, we are unfortunately not able to offer a vegan menu.
How can I redeem a Gift Card?
Please call us at 773-913-3773 or email in to info@smythandtheloyalist.com to set up a reservation for yourself or the recipient. The gift cards are currently non-redeemable via TOCK. Thank you!
Do I need to add wine pairings during my purchase or can I add them the night of?
No, you do not need to add wine pairings during your purchase. You can simply notify the host or your server once seated that you are interested and we will take it from there!
I have an allergy or dietary restriction. Can I dine at Smyth?
With at least three days notice, we will always do our best to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions. Email in to info@smythandtheloyalist.com for any questions or concerns.
The menu is usually and primarily seafood focused. We are unable to safely accommodate allergies to all seafood, sunflower oil allergies and vegan diets.
Is valet parking available at Smyth?
Currently we do not have or offer valet parking. There is free parking along Ada & Lake St. and 2 hour parking along Randolph. There is also a parking garage 2 blocks North on Ada & Fulton - just a bit north of Fulton.
Does Smyth have a private room?
Yes, we have a tucked-away, private room that can be enjoyed for groups of up to 16. Please contact Cara Sandoval for more details at cara@smythandtheloyalist.com
What is your cancellation policy?
Deposit bookings may be canceled within 24 hours of the reservation purchase and receive a full refund.
To inquire about rescheduling your reservation, please reach out to info@smythandtheloyalist.com. All requests to reschedule are handled on a case by case basis, and rescheduling is unavailable within 72 hours of your booking date & time.

Do you allow outside wine? Is there a "corkage fee"?
We do allow our guests to bring in special bottles. We kindly ask that we are notified ahead of time so that our sommelier can assist in handling, opening and/or decanting. Our corkage fee is $100 per bottle. We ask that our guests limit their bottles to one 750ml bottle per every two guests.
Can I purchase a gift card to Smyth?
Yes! Currently, only digital gift cards can be purchased by visiting our home page on our website. The digital gift card link is in the middle of the header on that page.
Where is the entrance? What if I need ADA entry?
We are located a few steps from the entrance on Ada St. just to the right.
If you need ADA assistance, kindly let us know. Our front entryway is not accessible. We will need to bring you or the guest in your party down into the parking garage directly to the left of our entrance. From there, we can access our elevator.
